I’m wondering what’s the best DCC system for less than $500 but closer to $250
but has to have good fetures!
There are several excellent DCC systems on the market and you will find that there are loyal supporters of all of them that will tell you that they are the best! Best is very subjective and depends greatly on what you want to get out of your system. Your price range of $250 to $500 covers most of the systems out there other than the basic entry level systems. Consider looking at the DCC comparison guides on Tonys train exchange web site and decide what features are important to you. Digitrax, NCE, EasyDCC and Lenz all deserve your consideration. For what it is worth, I think Digitrax is the best[swg]
The system that others modelers around you use.
If most people in your area use Digitrax, then the Digitrax Zephyr, if most use NCE, then the NCE Powercab, if most use Lenz, then a Lenz system, etc.
They are all high quality systems with good features.
I have Digitrax because that is what the local club in OKC has.
What is the best HO scale locomotive with a MSRP under $500?: for me the BLI A; for you it is probably something else.
let’s put tthe price close to $200 or less, what is there then? If i find a good deal on Ebay for a MRC Prodigy Advanced (which is the one i’ve been thinking about for months) for around $190, should i buy it?
I had a Prodigy Advanced when I first got into DCC. I had some trouble with it, and wasn’t really happy with it, although the details escape me now.
I ended up going with a Digitrax Zephyr, which I picked up for $149 at Gadget Tom’s, and have since added a DT400 throttle, and a dozen or so Digitrax decoder enabled locos. All of the other factory DCC equipped locos we have purchased (BLI) have worked flawlessly with the Digitrax Zephyr.
I’d recommend you go with either the Digitrax Zephyr or the Lenz Set 90 for that price. Both are great systems, from great manufacturers. Remember though, the system is only half of the cost. The decoder cost will rack up.
The “Best” DCC system is different for all, and for different reasons. Telling us what the characteristics of your railroad etc. will help to point you in the right direction.
It depends on what you want to do.

Well, i was also looking at the EASYDCC by CVP, but i thought the prodigy advanced was what we would do. it would be really helpful if you could remember what was wrong with it. I’ve looked at the digitrak, but i kind’a don’t like the design.(something about it, don’t know what just makes me not like it). As far as CVP one it ended up more than i thought.
