Big diesels in HO

I’d personally want to see a GE U50B with all wheel drive that can take an 18" curve. But there are so many other big diesels and turbines that need to be made in plastic.(a couple were done in resin kits a long time ago)

I put my vote in on the Jawn Henry because Id love to see it made, but its a rare used prototype model and experimental.

The UP steam Turbines were a little more succesful.

Sine I am more for steam, cant say too much to diesels, I have an Athearn dd40,

I would not mind a few more “electric” electric lokies…

You include the M1 and the Jawn Henry steam turbines, but not the Pennsy S2 and UP Steamotive? And what about the Westinghouse Blue Goose GTEL? From a turbine nut, shame on you![:p]

How about a selection that says “Any turbine not currently produced?”[:p]

A quick correction, the UP STELs were no more successful, if anything, the Jawn Henry was. The Jawn Henry did quite well in pusher service, and lasted almost four years, while the UP STELs served for one year on UP, and then a few months on the Great Northern and NYC due to a power shortage.

I’d like to see a good HO DDA40X, but an HO SD80MAC (in Conrail of course[:)]) gets my vote, as it’s the biggest diesel in service today (along with the SD90MAC). I know Kato has made 80MACs and 90MACs, but they only ran Conrail 80MAC’s once![:(!]

Sorry - I’m not interested in ANY of them (should have “None” for a response).

That’s OK to not be interested in big diesels or turbines. I made this topic so people who do want one or two or all of them can say they do or just vote on one.[:D]

I’m with Darth Santa Fe,

Though I’m not a UP modeler, I’ve always liked this giant and wouldn’t mind owning a model of a U50. There was a brass HO U50 model produced in the early 70s.
(This puppy ran and sounded like a rock crusher!)

In the late 1980s or early 90s, detailed, attractive brass U50s (D and BB) were produced but the prices were in the nosebleed section of a stadium!

IMHO, I think that a U50 would sell as well as a DDA40X (though I like this puppy too!) as the Southern Pacific owned U50s too.

It’s a shame that no U50s were preserved.

Roger that.

My son is big on UP, so any of the UP monsters would do for him.
