Can someone tell me how the smoke on my B.L.I. Dryfuss is supposed to work.I mean it’s cookin and all but it’s not rising, just sort of lingering in the boiler. Thanks.
Probably way too much steam oil in it - take a kitchen towel and turn the loco uside down over it to empty the little tank and then carefully refill with only one drop.
When the smoke unit comes on you should hear the fan runninng. If not it may be burnt out.
Most likely, the fan isn’t working. I’ve had three BLI locos with similar problems. Our Reading T1 was the first to have this problem. I found that the fan would get stuck. I had it working for a while, but it quit working again. The fan quit on My NYC Hudson, and I couldn’t do anything with it. Recently we picked up a Pennsy I1 and the fan isnt working on it. Only two of my BLI locos have properly working smoke units.
