Guys,
Is there a manufacture that makes a B30-7AB in HO scale?
Here is a Picture if you don’t remember what one looks like:

I have a B30-7 Athearn BB that if a company just made the shell I could just use my under frame, but what about railings?
Or do I just have to custom build one?
Smokey Valley and Detail Associates both make GE B-unit conversion kits. I don’t think they include the “box” on top. You could cut the louver sections out of an old Athearn, LifeLike or Modelpower GP-7/9 body and build a box around those.
I have been planning on building one for a few years now.
The Athearn u boat frame will work but has the wrong trucks (AAR)
I am using the Atlas B23-7 frame. has the correct FB-2 trucks and proper truck centers.
Also being a -7AB means it had the 12 cylinder engine not the 16 like the other 30-7s.
That is why you should use the B23 and not the B30 shell.
Also if you can find a high short hood version all that is needed is Smokey Valley
blank out sections. I believe the first 50 did not have the raised section on the roof.
