BNSF 5612.

Does anyone know if the BNSF 5612 has the BNSF ‘New Image’ scheme? Because the HO Athearn has it. Allan.

Doesnt look like it.

That’s what I thought. Then why would Athearn just go ahead and paint a Model in the ‘New Image’ scheme without permission from the BNSF Railway? Or am I wrong?
Allan.

I dont think BNSF, a Fortune 500 company cares if Athearn paints a locomotive in the current scheme, besides in a couple months, it will be in H3 anyways.

In fact, I would think that BNSF would dislike it if the it wasn’t painted in H3, seeing how they have gone throught so much to produce this new image for themsleves

I am sure that UP would sue and defend itself under a circumstance like this…

Wow, seriously, a model railroad company putting an incorrect paint scheme on a model, that never happens! By the way, do any of you have pictures of those high-nose GP38-2s that Santa Fe had in red and silver?

(Tongue firmly planted in cheek…)

Thats not the only inaccurate athearn paint. My first locomotive was an Athearn SDP40 in C&NW. Not just was the paint scheme off, CNW never owned an SDP40.

I’m hoping Athearn will release SD70MACs (non-ACe) in H3 too, even though BNSF hasn’t repainted any of those into the new “powerbar” logo scheme either.

Anyone wanting a Gevo or SD70ACe will have to pay premium from a company like Tower 55 since I don’t think Athearn or any of the other mainstream plastic model train makers have molds for either (though maybe they are working on it?)

Years ago Atheran was the big player. Now for me its either Atlas or Kato.I wish for more high hood NS models.
