BNSF/Burlington Northern Santa Fe name change questions.

On the Trains newswire, it talks briefly about about BNSF changing their name back to Burlington Norther Santa Fe Railroad. What’s up with that? Just because some marketing group thought it would sound more “marketable”? Who thinks this stuff up? I would think they have just flushed a lot of money down the drain! Does anybody know where to find the sneak preview pictures mentioned, of the so-called “Cascade green-inspired”, new proposed paint scheme?[:0] What would this be called? Something like Heritage 14?[;)] My guess is that the “swoosh” will be gone, among other thins. Anybody else have info on this?

Ok I’m a bit confused here do you mean to say that BNSF is thinking about changing their name back to Burlington Northern? [%-)]

In a word-yes. You, I, and BNSF all seem to be confused on this. Weird huh?[xx(]

Well done, Murph !

Ya gotta love marketers and consultants. It was their ilk that convinced the
Great Northern Railway to abandon their all-time classic color scheme
in favor of a blue/gray/white mess. Only shows the idiocy hasn’t left yet.

It is April 1, did I miss something? They just changed it to BNSF coinciding with the new paint scheme, didn’t they?

IIRC it has always been Burlington Northern Santa Fe post-merger. BNSF fits better on the long hoods than the full name.

Isn’t that the way you interpret it?

I agree 100%. The funny thing is, here all they’d have to do is touch up the paint on the locomotives used locally. Most are still somewhat Cascade green-under all the grime.[;)]

Rumor!

Rumor? It’s on the newswire.[%-)]

I cant find it in the NewsWire, Link it if ya would pls.

Yes please.

Honest truth: I’m not smart enough to link things. It took me 6 months, and a lot of coaching, to figure out how to quote someone else’s post.[sigh]

I don’t see it there either. Methinks Murph is taking advantage of the calendar.[:D]

“BNSF Railway” has been the railroad’s official name for over a year. BNSF Railway is owned by the “Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp.” which has kept the same name post-merger.

Why can’t just leave enough alone?

There is an old saying that applied here, and it goes something like…“THOSE WHO CAN DO, THOSE WHO CAN’T CONSULT”.

And then there is another old saying: “You can fool some of the people all of the time and all the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.”

Happy day after April 1st.
