I have finally finished a long awaited project and I wanted to show it off. I did not make it totally exact to the prototype but tried my best. Still the cab and the front handrails are incorrect but close enough.
This unit was a HO Athearn BB Union Pacific that I stripped down and repainted. It is the first BNSF unit I have ever done and probably the last. The decals are not the easiest to do. I super detailed it with Details West items and once the decoder is installed it will have Tsunami Sound with working ditchlights. I’d say not bad for a blue box Athearn.
I am a Santa Fe modeler, but have seen a large number of BNSF units, and have to say you have captured the faded look of the engines that were painted that way. Great job.
Thanks guys for the pat on the back. I’ve enjoyed this part of the model railroding as I’m just getting going. One thing that it does take is a lot of days of time and patience.
Noah, thanks. That is one of the real reason I made the diorama thing: to post photos of my work. It also has been a good tool for practice for when the day comes that I can build that layout. Really, now all I need is a good camera.
