Eagle’s Nest May Delay Track Construction http://www.1410wizm.com/index.php/news/34-local-news/7892-eagles-nest-may-delay-track-construction Might be a bit of a hiccup for Burlington Northern as it readies to build a second set of tracks through the La Crosse River marsh. A local photographer thinks a bald eagle nest could be close enough to the tracks to warrant a special federal permit for the company to proceed with the their plans. It also might force a delay of the tracks until the eagles get down with their spring hatch Alan Stankevitz is a member of the group, Citizens ACting for Rail SAfety, which has worked to keep the tracks from getting built. Despite that, Stankevitz says he’s not pushing a federal permit to delay the project, only to protect the eagles which are now, he says, starting to some maintenance on the nest.
Interesting that you did not choose to mention the various main reasons for opposition given in the 2nd article linked. The eagles seem a very secondary concern, but it fits the typical rightist memes of labeling opposition with demeaning terms such as 'treeh
If this was intended as some “vast right-wing conspiracy” I would not have included the second link and used the terms you referenced. An easier search function would have allowed me to add this to an existing discussion. The posted article was today’s news that was in a format on a webpage that I did not think it was easy to read.
Oh give me a break. If there is already a track there, the construction won’t bother the eagles, as long as the construction doesn’t get really close. They may be a little unsettled for 3 - 4 days, but animals get used to increased activity quickly. Sounds like a typical BANANA grasping at any straw to delay a project.
I understand BNSFs desire for a second track, isn’t the old CNW alignment running through the marsh a trail now . Wouldn’t it be cheaper to move the trail .That is if this is even the area of La Crosse that they are speaking of .
