BNSF NS merger paint scheme

I think the blackbird would make for a perfect merger paint scheme between these two roads, combining NS’s fondess for black and the heritage of one of BNSF’s predecessor flags, the CB&Q.

Oh the hell with that. Just bring bact the old Burlington Grey,Red and White scheme back. Burlington was way better.

The Burlington Route’s blackbird scheme is a classic. I’d give anything to see the BNSF paint one of their most recently acquired locomotives in that scheme, similar to what the U.P. has been doing. I question whether or not such a merger would ever take place between the BNSF and NS, but still, it’s a pretty nice idea.

“There was a time in this fair land when the railroad did not run, when the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun, long before the white man and long before the wheel, when the green, dark forest was too silent to be real.” Gordon Lightfoot

The color scheme will be simple. Black, with FRA mandated reflective material and the new name “Norfolk Pacific”

Limitedclear has it right. But, it will depend on whose management survives. If it turns out to be NS (unlikely, to me) then it’ll be basic black for the power. But, Norfolk Pacific would revive a classic reporting mark: Northern Pacific’s NP Henri Villard would smile at that development. M. Villard’s name has also been spelled Henry, but I chose the French spelling.

If it turned out to be UP on top, the name would probably be Union Pacific, and the locomotives would be yellow.[;)]

Well a “Norfolk Pacific” paintscheme in black could also be based on the black and gold Northern Pacific freight scheme - including the monad of course !!

No just do what the UP did. One Hertage unit. One Railroad of it’s own.
One ATSF.
One BN.
One GN.
One Santa Fe.
One Burlington.
One Frisco. And so on.

Just to let ya know…that’s the same railroad.

Besides…there is already a BNSF-NS Merger Scheme that a friend of mine made…

Oh. Sorry. Oops.

NO, NO. .NS buys UP and it disappears into the fog of nite (Nach und nabel)!!!

Actually, Lyon, that’s not a bad idea for a “retro” paint scheme.

And instead of “Everywhere West” it could just say “Everywhere”!

Ya dont suppose they would simplify it even further, and just name it Burlington Southern, do you?

Think of how much money they would save on the simplified paint scheme.

They could enter the cattle shipping market once again, claiming to be the best
Bull Shippers in the Nation…[swg]

Burlington Southern…I like it’s simplicity

yeah and the reporting mark are excellent…

BSRR

Seems like they may have had this in the works all along…

BNSF

[:D]

How about Norfolk Western they also used black paint.

BSRR??? Another railroad has this reporting makings Buffalo Southern railroad.

The new railroad should be called “Northern Southern”.

If this hypothetical merger were to ever REALLY happen then perhaps the best (and most geographically descriptive) name would be “BURLINGTON NORTHER SOUTHERN EASTERN & WESTERN”. (No, the coloring of the words in the name were not randomly chosen, think about it)
