Hey dingoix. Just tell them that the BNSF is the God os a Railroads. That will get them mad. The word swoosh sounds realy stupid and very retarded. Allan.
There isn’t an H4 scheme, and that’s what I was trying to say. There also is no H3 with H2 decals, it would be H2 with H3 decals which is what the new paint scheme is. There is also H1 with H3 decals,BNSF is painting their standard cab units in the H1/H3 scheme. every SD40-2 has it so far. I think about 5 or 6 SD40-2s have been painted, and a GP35.
And it’s up to you what you call it. Everybody has there own name for it no matter what the real name is(if there even is one)…and since this is a free country and we have the right to call it what we want, we will call it what we want, whether it be “swoosh” or “new look”.
Like I said, I’ll call it whatever I want to. I’ll call it what people recognize, people obviously don’t know what a Heritage 3 is, like I do. You’re still trying to get people straightened out on the “Heritage 4” junk. Maybe if you get them down pat on the real names of the schemes, I’ll call it by the proper name that it is recognized as. Nobody said NS units couldn’t be called catfishes, or the primer ones albino catfishes, I don’t know, do you argue about calling BNSF units “pumpkins”? Or how about CSX’s “YN3”…it’s called “Dark Future”…and the CN’s logo is called the “noodle”, these are all affectionate names that people call things CASUALLY and mean nobody any harm. Calm the hell down, I’ve seen this happen before, and nobody has been killed by giving something a nickname yet.
Oh I just noticed this on another topic called: Why DO railroads paint their locomotives in such fancy colors?

i read in a railroad book IC’s black paint was to show it’s “conservative” side (not wasting paint?) seriously though i LOVE the last IC paint scheme w/ the “DEATH STAR” on the front
I don’t know what I’m doing but i’m an EXPERTat it
modeling BNSF in HO scale
Now, did IC say it was OK for you to call it a “DEATH STAR”? What if I was a big IC fan like you (which I am) and I protested that it should be called their “last corperate image”? You are very inconsistant and make no sense. I have nothing against BNSF, I’m a fan, I’ll call it what I want to. Nobody should take any of this personally. Good Lord ya’ll, lighten up.
“last corporate image” is fine w/ me- i just stated that somewhere it was refered to as the death star
joegreen the only difference between H2 and H3 is the stripes at the top and bottom are black on H3 but on H2 they are green(and the decals are different) -heritage 2
heritage 3
this H3 w/ H2 letters i’m talking about- it’s just H3 but the letters “BNSF” are from the H2
The new logo on the wide cabs(which you posted) are only different from H2 with the black paint(which you said) and the new logo. They also have new reflective stripes, which are applyed to anything, but the standard cab units get a different paint scheme. The standard cabs get a paint scheme similar to H1 but with black paint on top and bottom, and they also have the new logo. So we really do have both H1 and H2 still only they changed it’s logo and changed the green paint to black, which we now like to call “H3”
Man, am I confused. What does the latest BNSF look like? I"m reading H-2H-3H-3H-H-2etc… My head hurts. Which of these photos depicts the latest paint job, whatever it’s called? Thanks[xx(]
It may sound “stupid” and it may be a “retarded” name but if i say “swoosh” you immediatly know which one i am speaking of. Heritage 3, H-4 which “new look” is this the 5th or 6th??[?]
That’s what I have been saying, now that we agree on schemes, It’s the “new BNSF scheme”. Which I call the swoosh, and any other fun nickname that we railfans want to give it or any other railroad’s paint scheme/logo. This is supposed to be fun, not a cut throat fight over a fricken name. We’re supposed to do this and have fun making fun of other’s favorites, it’s what people do. So, don’t take it personally when I call something what I feel “comfortable” with. Have fun ya’ll.
That might be a while, I miss the old ATSF, but I miss the old BN too, I’m just glad they didn’t do like UP did. I’m still trying to figure out what I like better…UP patches the number and leaves the old logos, but BNSF patches the old logos and leaves the number (on BN units).
joegreen i didn’t know standard cabs had the new logo w/ paint closer to H1-- is this the H4 people are always talking about?- i like anything w/ the “NEW IMAGE” - actually the logo is called the BNSF railway logo- the paint scheme is called H3, ect.
new (current) logo-
maybe we should just call it the “NEW IMAGE”
