Bob Norris’ N scale “Somewhere West” layout
Sorry folks: typed the above in a hurry! Obviously should read:
Denver & Rio Grande Western!
UP,SP,SF and DRGW western railroading at it’s heart with just a touch of European flavor! Impressive collection from trains to structures! A lot of work!
Beautiful layout but is this HO or N scale–the video indicates N?
Wonderful layout. I to like both steam & diesel
It’s n scale.
Great layout…
You’ve certainly packed a lot in for such a limited space, my question is how much space do you have to move in seeing so much is taken up with the layout?
Good Question Ramon. No problem for me and say one visitor. After that it gets a bit crowded!
Many thanks Roger from Colorado! The answer is :
Reading MODEL RAILROADER for the last 30 years! Simple as that!
Cheers, Bob.
I am an “Armchair Modeler” as I have NEVER built a Model Train Layout. I do have a lot of knowledge on Railroad History, etc. I lack the Power Tools and Technical know how. Robert, How did you learn to build all of this? I think it is amazing in such a small space.
Hi Robert;
I enjoyed your Open Tunnel concept for your layout. My favorite rail lines are the same as you are modeling…AT&SF, BN, BNSF, Rio Grande, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific. Do you have a track plan by chance that I can look at? The Mobile Homes you have on the layout were a good added touch. You don’t see that too often. Another item layouts are missing are Hospitals. Don’t see that much either. Thank you for your video.
Hi Roger. I don’t have a track plan as such. If you click on the “related articles: Bob Norris…” in blue above the comments, you will come to pt2, if you do the same again, you will come to pt1 which shows a ATSF FT on a bridge. This vid explains where everything is and how it all connects up.
Hmm, a hospital…now there’s an idea! Thanks!
Cheers, Bob.
Glad to see anothe N scaler’s road. You think your road is small? I ve Just got room to operate on a door. You gave me some good ideas for my road. Thanks.
Great work Bob! I have read about your layout in nscale.org.
And I thought I’d bitten off a chunk trying to create an interchange “somewhere in New Mexico” that could explain having ATS&F, DRG&W, and SP units sharing track (in the early/mid 50s). Great layout! Love the lights, ALL of them! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Ira,George & Len.
Greatly appreciate your comments. Many Thanks.
I love the variety of road names you run! You have a lot of locos I would love to have if I had the money.
As an avid and long-time N-Scale RR modeler, Kudos on your layout, especially the way you blend in the scenery with the train action! The place could be anywhere from Ohio to Colorado, from what I see in place, and I’ve been out plenty of times to rail-fan in these areas! Again, great job! Cheers!
Many thanks William & Jeffrey. Glad you like what I have done especially as I have never been to U.S.
Cheers, Bob.
