I lost interest in Gateway as anything more than ARC Tunnel Redux when the relocated the alignment, very very expensively, to make it a more circuitous and slower ‘two more North River Tunnels’.
Of course, as soon as they get one open, they’ll close one of the PRR originals for its make-over. Hope springs eternal that they learned from some of the recent MTA subway work and put the revised wiring high up in the bore instead of back in the benches…
At least they have no excuse to entomb or scrap the TBMs when work is completed! Perhaps if they ever get back around to actual HSR access to the Manhattan area, they can re-use them!
