Three million dollars for the bidding process is definitely government at “work.”
The winning bidder may well regret taking on this thankless job.
Isn’t this the contract that Amtrak lost? Amtrak was reportedly out because the costs came in much higher than the winning bid, yet for years afterwards, there were actually indications that Boston got worse service, reliability, etc, and in the end did not get more value than Amtrak would have provided…
Three Million dollars???
No wonder the T is broke.
Of course, the winner will still get massive subsidies, big government will still regulate it to death, and no taxpayer money will be saved. If Marxachusetts really wants to save money, sell off everything to the highest bidder and then get out of the way.
