I just had to try
the lrv look so simple in design and the new ones here in cambridge are awsome
articulates
I may have to use a drill to make some windows for the doors
can you see the light I made that from the same strip of brass and wraped it around a drill bit but that dont count

now I need brass to work with
I seen some at home depot its a kick plate

You got a really cool thing going there. I hope you finish it.

Check around your local area for any company that makes things from brass. They’ll have waste that you can probably get for the asking. Just don’t ask for it in “TON” lots, as they probably recycle. Pieces to a local hobbyist will usually be OK. Do it right and you’ll have a steady supply.

Also, when you finish a project, bring it to them to let them see whatever you get is being well used…IMHO

hey thats a good idea
must be a few here there are a lot of places like that aroung hec I dont mind paying for some
how you buy it makes a big diferance in price thanks for the tips I didnt think of that
I was looking around the house for brass
nothing is safe from my trains

Try here…

This industrial supply house has everything under the sun. You could likely save a ton over buying from hobby suppliers.

(just type “brass” in the search window, and you’re off…)

The end is off to an intriguing start–are you trying to model something in particular, or is this a free-lance model?

kinda like this one

This one?

Okay, then I guess you are free-lancing, since the streetcar in the picture doesn’t have side mirrors…

lol yes I was making the mirrors for an aem-7 but just tryed to see what it looks like think I may go to home depot and check the brass door kick plates

I got my kick plate it was $25.99 and I got $3 off as it had a small dent
I did see trolleys with big wideangle mirrors round ones has enyone seen this

I have seen some modern LRVs with mirrors, I assume for passenger safety checks, but older streetcars normally don’t have mirrors.

Are you using a plan, or just playing construction by ear?

A door kickplate seems pretty thick for such a project–thin sheet brass suitable for such a model would cost a heck of a lot less than $22.99…are you that far from a hobbyshop?

If you don’t have a model railroad hobby shop near you, try an RC car hobby shop-they usually have a K & S metal shapes rack with brass sheet and bar/rod stock.
