With Holgate & Reynolds out of business, what are scratchbuilders using for brick walls. I have seen paper and others advertised. I am starting a station project soon and would like to stock up on supplies.
Thanks Mike Dickinson Jamestown NY

Hi Mike
I was never really happy with the piers and walls I made out of foam as after a while the lines would get out of kilter as I went along. I found a better way (for me at least) to get straight motor/brick lines in my foam bridge piers. Use a styrene I-Beam to get even straight horizontal lines. For the vertical lines I poke with tweezers. They make it easy to adjust the width of the bricks.
Just put one side of the I-beam in the previous line and all the lines stay straight all the way down. I now have made walls and piers using this method and am really happy with the results.

I use Walthers brick sheet styrene and DPM Modular sections.
As already mentioned Walthers sells a brick sheet. It’s probably the best out there for HO scale sized brick. N Scale Architect also has a couple of brick patterns (modern and old) in larger sheet sizes. These are similar to the H&R brick sheet in both the size of the bricks and the thickness of the material. The main difference is that it is styrene instead of vinyl. There’s another one out there (I can’t remember the name, starts with a J) that is similar to the N Scale Architect brick.

Hi Mike,
There are a ton of options out there some already mentioned.
For plastic I use Plastruct, www.plastruct.com/Pages/VOL8.html#DL
Monster makes a brick product on Wood. If you send them a file they will even laser cut out windows and doors for an extra $5.00. The also sell a bunch or details like lentils that go along with the brick. I think their aged american bond or old brick sheets look better than most plastic sheets.

Let us know what you end up with, Derek
LION prints them on his computer. Especially with background buildings. My drawing program does this very well.

One possibility is to draw your own brick paper in a drawing program such as Photoshop and print it out. I drew up this one in Photoshop Elements…
I emailed this file to someone who wanted a model, and assembled a mockup to show what it should look like.
The printed file had printed windows. But you could use model window castings, copy them full size, insert them into your 2D picture file. After printing out the wall surface, cut out the printed windows and replace with same-size modeled windows, as described in Model Railroader May2011 p.30.
