I have a couple Broadway Limited steam locomotives, and I was wondering how well their diesels operate. Has anyone had any experience with their EMD NW2 Switcher?
I don’t have any experience with the NW2, but I do own one of previous models they made last year - an EMD SW7. It sounds great - handles like a dream - nice and slow. I have no idea of how many cars it will be able to pull - I’ve only run it on a short test tracks - but it tracks well on Peco Code 75 track and turnouts. I would imagine that the SW7 and NW2 are pretty much identical except for some body details.
I picked up the PRR one - but I’m going to change it be an engine on my freelance NY Terminals & Docks Railway. My shelf layout will be a street running, warehouse and dock/wharf area. It should fit right in - and it sounds wonderful.

i have a straight dc nw-2 and a dual mode sw-7. i have repeatedly tinkered with the nw-2 in an effort to get it to run quietly but it is beyond my capabilities. both of them run smoothly but they are weak in the knees. probably ok for a small layout with short trains. i am spoiled by the pulling power and performance of the kato NW-2 locomotives i have had for years. i will not buy another bli unless i move into a small apartment and have no room for a layout. perhaps i just like to move too many cars at one time.

I have two of their Paragon2 NW2 Switchers with Sound, and I love 'em. They are amongst my favorite locos.

I have an early NW2 that I like so much, I paid $100 to have it custom painted in C&NW livery. My favorite diesel loco.
