I would say that BLI, and Quantum have the sound down quite well. I have a couple of Atlas diesels with QSI sound, and an Atlas Quantum Engineer. I say you cannot beat the sound or the quality. I would rate this steam locomotive a five star loco, and five star sound.
Excelent locomotive !!! Pitty do noy have the new chip included!! 4-8-4 had slightly better detail and construction BLI is leading the market.
I know this is short but from what I’ve seen, I like it.
It’s a beautiful machine, and sounds just right
Looks good, sounds great! Steam sound seems correctly matched to wheel rotations. The only final touch would be a smoke unit.
Sounds just like the J1E Hudson, and BLI still hasn’t figured out how to synchronize chuffs to driver rotation.
Overall, a good loco, but BLI needs to come up with a few more sounds. Half of their engines have that exhaust.
The locomotive looks very good and I find the sound awesome although it sounds a bit like the firms other loco’s. It looks to me as a good runner.
Looks great, really works in well with the other Santa Fe steam (4-8-4) available through BLI.
I very much enjoy the online videos of live H.O. scale steam locomotives. It gives me the incentive to work on my own Reading Company layout as well as it peaks my interest to add DCC and sound to my brass locomotives. Currently I am fortunate to have been gifted the Reading T-1 with sound and DCC and it has really brought my railroad to life. I have been modelling in H.O scale since the 1950’s and sound and DCC are the best improvements to H.O. scale since the Kadee coupler and metal insulated wheels. Keep up the good work on Model Railroader. It is a pleasure to read from cover to cover.
I have a 20X40 basement layout. I enjoy my BLI locos (I have 19 of them) however I have not purchased a new loco from them in awhile because of quality control issues. BLI always corrected any problems within a short amount of time, I just got tired of getting a new loco that was missing parts, or not functioning correctly. They are still excellent machines, and everyone enjoys running them.
Sound is great and a good looking loco.
I just got one and it’s even better than the 3751. Sound is better and pulling is much improved.
Even with this short video, look & feel, as well as sound - very well done…
“Realistic sound”! Not to much, just enough and clear!
now all they need is some steam and smoke billowing out the stack, then you’ll the heat from the firebox.wow!!!
Fantastic! This crosses that threshold into realism. The engine ran well, and that sound, as Microsoft says - “It’s as real as it gets”!!
I too have had some minor problems with BLI steam locomotives, but no one else has better sound! I have a few PCM steam locomotives and have been disappointed with their loksound. So far none of their steam locomotives has it right. I wish they would also use the Quantum Sound system.
Very real. I thought the man in the cab was going to wave at me.
