EXCELLENT PERFORMER
Great loco but I’m not a fan of pennsy.
Fan of PRR. Eventually I’ll get the new one that has blueline sound.
I’ll pay any price for one. i’m not a huge Pennsy fan, but it looks so streamlined and majestic, can somebody buy me, like huge radius curves for it, wait, does it look good on 24" radius? Please respond, i need to know if i need to expand a little, thanks, me!
I just received my Blueline Pennsy T1 and was disappointed in the mechanical performance. The rigid frame compromises the driving ability of the engines on even 36" radius curves. With the flangeless center drivers, and the fact that they are raised slightly about the front and rear driver sets, traction is weak… even with the traction tires installed.
This setup renders the pulling power down to that of a 4-2-2-4. It is a shame that they could not have figured out how to keep the center driver sets on the rails with more lateral movement and spring pressure.
It is a great looking locomotive and it can pull quite a few cars. However I am hardly impressed with their quality control and their less than stellar technicians. when first sent back to be repaired it was shorting out the second it hit the track turns out there was a board shorting out over the front pilot wheels after getting it back the chuff did not work so back it went to have all wire harnesses replaced. On receiving it back the thing didn’t run at all so I pulled it apart and found four pinched wired the double sided tape mounting and isolating the board from the motor was missing which after replacing the think ran fine I also repaired a friend’s locomotive of the same design his front drivers locked up and after sending it end and getting it back being told it was repaired it still had the problem. on opening it I found that the dog-bone that connects the front drivers to the motor had fallen out after it was reinstalled it ran fine. I’m not overly impressed with the quality of manufacture of this locomotive nor the company by extension. I am also not overly impressed with their technicians who after a week or two either do not repair the problem or half ass fix something. This is the first and last BLI I will ever purchase.
Got one myself and have it on display because I have Know layout or a place to put one. From the sound of things here maybe it’s better that way. What a shame it looks so good displayed.
