As some of you may know I have posted problems I have been having with my new Paragon3 SD7 and 2-8-2. Both had start-up sound coming on as soon as power to the rails was put on. The SD7 also stalled intermittently. First BLI admitted that the early P3’s had some decoder problems and they sent me a new decoder. I tried to install it but it just made a high pitched sound and then no sound although the loco moved. BLI took it back and installed a new decoder and replaced both light boards. When they sent it back it arrived damaged. The UPS box was undamaged, the BLI Product box was unmanaged but when I opened the box the styrofoam insert was cracked, handrails were broken and a part from the front was broken off. Now you might think that they would say it was something I did since the packaging was in tact. They did not. They appologized for the condition the locomotive arrived in and sent me a pre-paid label to return the loco so they can repair it. That meant a lot to me and they now have my loyalty as a quality company. PS they are also sending me a new decoder for the 2-8-2 that will hopefully resolve the problem with that engine. I have 4 P2’s that have never had a problem. If you’re thinking of buying a new DCC locomotive look at BLI.
