More info on BTK can be found on the Wichita Eagle newspaper www.kansas.com and Americas Most Wanted web page. For those outside the Wichita,KS area, BTK is a serieal killer police have linked to s series of murders in Wichita from 1974-1986. The killer sent letters to police taking claim for the murders. After 1979 there was no more communication sent until a yr ago–the 30th anniv of the first set of murders. After 25 yrs of keeping quiet, BTK began describing things about himself in great detail to his letters to the police. The rr connection to this is that he statd he likes trains, his mother dated a rr spcl agent many yrs ago and he lives near rr trks. BTK would be about 65 yrs of age. In 2004 Wichita police interviewed several railfans who hang out by the trks and some of them gave DNA samples. If the details BTK is stating to the police and media are indeed true, then possibility in the Wichita area, we may have a railfan about 65 yrs of age who was responsible for a series of brutual killings 25-30 yrs ago. The BTK stands for bind, torture & kill.

Saw the news; glad they were able to identify him. Did not hear any more about the railfan aspect though. Just mentioned that he was a zealous code enforcement officer (front yard lawn too high, etc.)
It seems that the interest in rrs was simply a front he put on. I feel for the 60-65 yr old railfans in Wichita who hang out by the trks, were observed by law enforcement, interviewed and some even, on their own, gave DNA samples. This dude had many people fooled and caused much stress for many others. Glad this over and we can get on with our lives down here.
