Hi all,
On a trip from Lancaster to my hometown of many years in Northern Virginia, I made it a point to stop and gawk at the old B&O Point of Rocks station… fell in love… long story short with no kit available (I tried looking for the Model Tech Studios kit) I’d like to try my hand at building a model, diorama to be exact of this lovely station as it might have appeared in the '50s.
Has anyone here built a model of Point of Rocks, HO (my scale), N, O, Z, G? if so, any advice or ideas to share?
Plans and suggested scratch building materials?
Thank you in advance
Alvie
I did a yahoo search of “HO plans, Point of Rocks Station” and came up with this. It’s a start…

Alvie,
I have not built the Point of Rocks station but, like you, I simply love that station.
Here are some photos of it.

I forget the name of the company, but the Point of Rocks train station was available in HO scale at one time. I called to inquire about the station two years ago, but the HO scale station was no longer in production.
Hope you are able to scratch build that station. It is a beauty.

Model Tech Studios produced an HO scale version of the Point of Rocks train station in Maryland, but it was a limited edition in late 2005 and is no longer available. It wasn’t cheap either. The original retail price was $265. The following link provides some great photos and a bit of history regarding the train station.

Thanks fellows for the photo links and the paper kit, I think I’ll buy that, take measurements and see how it compares to the real plans. My worry is it’s not that accurate dimensionally, but for a price tag of less then $20, I figure it’d be fine to buy and try out. If nothing else, it could be a fine mock-up.
Thank you again
Alvie
