how hard is it to build your own track switches? is it cheaper? can you build them with remote switches?
is there a web site with kits to do this or just instructions showing how?

There was an article in GR a few years back, written by Pete Thornton. Back issues should still be available.
Building switches isn’t difficult, but it’s also not for everyone. The points are the most difficult part of the process. So far as I know, no one makes castings for code 332 points or frogs, but Llagas Creek makes castings for code 250 points and frogs. Those take some of the difficulty away.
You may also look for books or articles on building HO or O scale turnouts. The principles are identical, it’s just that the rails are farther apart.

I’m biulding a indoor G-scale logging railroad in the basement I’ve been making switchs in HO for years ,but I going a different route.I’m making stub switchs(no points) if you have a file you can make switches it is very easy.

They work perfectly on all trains except Lgb because the power pick up. But it can be rectified, but as all of my locos are wheel pick up. no problem.
Its actually not hard at all, and once you have done the first one its easy. I can make one go to whoe in just under 4 hours… without any special tools.
