Bush makes NMB Appointments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Bush said March 27 he intends to nominate Republican Peter W. Tredick of California and Democrat Harry Hoglander of Massachusetts to the National Mediation Board.
Tredick would replace Edward Fitzmaurice and Hoglander would be re-nominated to a second term on the three-member NMB. Both must be confirmed by the Senate.

Hoglander is an attorney and former legislative aide, airline captain and Air Force fighter pilot. He was first confirmed to the NMB in 2002. If reconfirmed by the Senate, his second term would run through July 1, 2008. NMB members continue serving until replaced or reconfirmed.

Tredick, if confirmed, would replace Fitzmaurice, who first joined the NMB in 2002. Fitzmaurice will continue to serve until his successor is confirmed. Tredick, of Santa Barbara, Calif., would serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring July 1, 2007.

Tredick currently is chairman of the Foreign Service Impasse Disputes Panel. He previously was associated with the law firm, Hogan & Hartson, and once joined with now Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts in representing the Washington Redskins football team in a dispute with the NFL Players’ Association.

Tredick was named by President Bush in 2004 to Presidential Emergency Board No. 238, which investigated a dispute involving the UTU and SEPTA. Tredick was educated at Princeton and Harvard Law School. He is a former president of the a conservative political action committee in Santa Barbara – the Lincoln Club – and led a Bush for president campaign in Santa Barbara in 2002.

The third member of the NMB is Republican Read Van deWater, who was confirmed to the NMB in December 2003, and who serves as chairman.

Looks like the employees arein deep trouble. Bush cares about one thing how much cash can I get and how bad can I screw up this country. Considering the revolt in the Rupubliocan ranks right now he is in trouble and better watch who he steps on.
