Yet people think it’s weird when I tell them that I’d love to travel the country in a caboose (albeit I was thinking one with a cupola so I can look out that instead of the bay window) with one that had an interior like that- who could resist?

Reminds me of the interiors of the Pullmans At Crown Point Hotel in Indy. Thy took some old Pullmans, stripped dpwn to bxes on trucks, and ade two hotel rooms out of them.

Would Amtrak certify a caboose? Thats an idea there!

The original interior is obviously a private caboose, probably sitting permanently some where.

There’s a site in nearby Nova Scotia that has 7 retired cabooses fitted out similarily, as rental suites. My wife and I stayed there several years ago, it was panelled in knotty pine too, had a queen sized bed, TV, VCR, modern shower stall, microwave, air conditioner, etc. Was nice to get up in the morning and sit in the cupola and watch the sun come up. They now have a passenger car set up as a diner.

I have three HO cabooses that I plan on adding interior details and lighting too. These photos give some very good reference ideas. Seems that gray and tan are the dominant colors for the walls. .

There is a place where you can stay in a caboose near the Strasburg Railroad in Pa. too. Name escapes me at the moment.

Reminds me of the movie Aspen Extreme. The two main characters are ski instructors and live in an old converted caboose. Although the one they lived in was kinda ratty.
