Can Micro Engineering Code 70 rail joiners be used on ME code 83 rail?

Does anyone happen to know if Micro Engineering Code 70 rail joiners can be shoved onto Micro Engineering Code 83 rail?

I’m ordering supplies for my layout, and having a hard time locating their code 83 rail joiners (and when I do locate them, I need to pay $15 shipping, so I’m hoping I can get away with all code 70 joiners…)

Thanks!

I use ME code 70 joiners on ME code 83 all the time because I feel they look better. They can be a tighter fit but they do work.

Yes they can. File a scrap piece of rail base to a taper and shove them on it. It will open them up the right amount and makes life easier.

Excellent news. Thank you both - you both told me exactly what I wanted to hear.

Trains will be running by Christmas…

Just like me-with brains AND dough!

Another possible alternative would be to use Atlas Code 80 N Scale joiners. Fairly inexpensive, much smaller than the typical HO scale joiner, and fits nice and tight on HO Code 83 rails.
