Gidday Sean, Its a GE C40-8M. Here’s some links including a photo when it was a bit cleaner…

Cheers, the Bear.
According to this link it is a GE C40-8M: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=432310&nseq=1
I just did a search, as this caught my interest. It’s made by GE, and called a Dash 8-40CMu. “C” means it’s 6 axle, not sure what the “M” means, and the “u” means it’s been up-graded with additional HP to make it equivalent to dash 9 status
Maybe some of our Canadian friends will chime in, and explain it better.
Mike…
I guess our friends had it covered before I chimed in…lol
Mike.
Hello,
The ‘M’ (In Canada), means it is a CarBody type, this one with the 'Draper Taper, which has an indentation of the body behind what would normally be the rear windows & doors.
Both GE & EMD had ‘M’ body versions unique to Canada, -in the USA, & in EMD terms, ‘M’ usually means Modified, & this can be confusing.
Modelling: This is not a model you can easily find in HO gauge. I have (said) one of 68 made by Overland Models Inc, & there were some body shells said to be made in Resin by Kaslo.
I do not know of any others.
You have a good eye for unique locomotives!!!
I first learned of this Unit from the TV Show the ‘X-Files’ in an episode when they used an unpowered RDC, & showed BCR #4613 in a BC Rail Yard where they were filming.
I had since then, been on the hunt for such a model… It took years, but…
Thanks everyone! Your collective knowledge is always greatly appreciated. The CN uses a lot (in my opinion) of unique locomotive and its cool to see them here is eastern Iowa. When I can get some pictures of some of the others I will post them for everyone to see!
