Can you hold a engineer license if you have diabetes?

Its my understanding if a person was a airline pilot they cannot hold a pilot license, just wondered if it applyied to railroads. thanks John

It would probably depend upon the severity and type of diabetes. If it’s so bad that you have to undergo dialysis treatments or insulin injections or suffer blackouts and seizures, probably not.

All pilots with Type 1 Diabetes are not allowed to be licensed.

Same goes for Truckdrivers requireing a CDL.

The FRA has no requirement concerning licenseing Diabetics.[:O]

The Employer sets the standards concerning Diabetics.

i know an engineer that has to take insulin injections to keep his under control…

csx engineer

I work with a few engineers that have diabetes they have it under control one of them used to be my road foreman of engines. Their are requirements set by the fra and are followed to the letter for certification on that requirement.
