Has any one changed shells on a MRC ( a F unit),by using another brand, kit bashing or what ever? I bought one some time ago used and it was missing the side grill, just emailed MRC today so waiting for reply. I found a lot of info on forums about how bad details were, so wondered about changing shell.
There’s a company called Highliners. They sell body shell kits that can be built into any version of the F-unit. They say to use these on Athearn Genesis or Sewart F-unit drives, but they might possibly work for your MRC unit. These F-units have a high amount of detail parts which you have to install yourself. You can find Highliners in the Walthers catalogue in the Locomotives section.
