I hear Canada is having a snow shortage, and David Letterman suggested that Americans ship snow cleared out in the eastern US to Canada. Maybe snow can be shipped by rail to Canada in mech or cryo reefers:) If ARMN, WFE, or any of the other shippers have cars to spare that is[:)]
I was a little surprised a couple of years ago visiting a hobby shop in Thunder Bay, Ontario that the owner talked about us in Minnesota being down in the “snow belt”, and about how much more it snowed in Minnesota than in Canada. I’m know they get really cold but maybe at least in the western half it’s too dry to create a lot of snow??
The greater Vancouver area had the warmest January on record, caused by a strong El Niño. I think most of Canada has been having a colder than normal winter.
Despite living about 20 miles or so from one of the highest snowfall areas east of the Rockies, I don’t usually see a great deal of snow. It can be dropping flakes in the inches per hour range on Tug Hill, and the sun is out at my house. Good ol’ lake effect, it is.
And yes, it can be too dry to snow. That’s one reason one rarely sees snow when it’s bitterly cold - the air can’t hold enough moisture. Those “Alberta Clippers” are killers.
All depends where you are. Yes, Vancouver has been rather warm and short on snow, but much of the eastern half of the country has been the opposite. Southeastern Ontario has been cold, and had enough snow, and here in Nova Scotia, we just got a good foot and a half or so fall yesterday…so it’s hardly a shortage
But, with the Olympics going on right now, the rest of Canada may as well not exist…
