Can't find an MDC 4-4-0 in SP colors

At the World’s Greatest Hobby on Ice last week the MDC rep said they made a new 4-4-0 in SP paint. He showed me his list that they made it with two road numbers. All the ads I’ve seen don’t list SP. Even the Feb MR reveiw did not list SP. But the MDC guy said they had tons in the warehouse and they weren’t going to run out soon. He said I just had to look around.

Does has anyone seen one in SP? If so where?

I’d pull my hair out, but it’s way to late for that.

I think Hobby Shack in Jacksonville Arkansas has one in stock but am NOT sure if it is the SP colors. I recall seeing a 4-4-0 with DCC and Sound in his display case today but AM NOT sure if it is the SP engine you seek.

Roundhouse’s website shows the new run 2-6-0’s coming out in SP http://www.roundhousetrains.com/ProdInfo/RND/450/RND84783-450.jpg I dont think they show a 4-4-0. I wish they update these things more often.

There is no published evidence Athearn/Horizon made any Roundhouse 4-4-0s (the ready to run locomotives) lettered for SP. If they do have SP 4-4-0s in the warehouse it is because their existence has been kept secret. MDC did make SP 4-4-0 kits.

It’s a conspiracy, Chip. MDC is secretly hoarding all the SP 4-4-0s and wants to create a market so that they can drive the price up. Seriously, I know you said that you talked to the MDC rep at the Pittsburgh show. Why not drop them an e-mail, talk to the “tonnage” manager in the MDC warehouse to confirm that what he said is indeed true.

Tom

They shouldn’t mess with me. I’m unstable enough. Email’s off. I’ll let you know.

Perhaps he thinks the unlettered 4-4-0s are models of SP units that spent much time going through tunnels.
