I just compleated setting up the tracks, every thimg was running yesterday now i cant get the train to run it gets some juce but crawles along ,then i here a click and everything stopps .Dont no what to do i have cheched everything and have gone over the wiring again and again still the same problem
This is the first time i have set up.I have just ben collecting locomotives for the last three years and have decided to have a set up.

Hello,

I would bet that you have a short somewhere. The click you are hearing is the transformer overload protection clicking in. Check your track and wiring for short, then try a different locomotive if that is possible. Could also be something wrong with the transformer. Eliminate one thing at a time until you find the problem.

also, get the Kalmbach book “EASY MODEL RAILROAD WIRING”. It’s great, as are all their books!

Depending on the type of track and connectors you have, it could be a myriad of things going wrong. If you do hear a ‘click’ it most probably is the thermal overload protection device on your x’fr. Could be a GFIC if you’re x’fr is plugged into one. I like the advice you got from the first reply. Look for anything, a rail joiner, piece of scrap wire, anything metalic that might be causing a short citcuit (both rails connected by a piece of metal). Make sure that your line supply wires are not touching anything but the terminal connectors and not each other. Also try a different engine.

Good Luck
