Cars for Magnorail

I’m about to install a Magnorail system on my layout. I’m looking cars that have moving wheels at the minimum, but would love to get some cars that have positional tires for making turns. I think Woodland Scenics has tires that rotate, but are there other brands of cars, trucks, vans that would work well with the Magnorail system?

Thanks!

While I don’t use Magnorail on my modules, I have seen and read about it, in particular the OO gauge Everard Junction series where Richard (IIRC) installed a fair length of magmorail on his layout with several curves. He did make sure his model vehicles’ wheels were free rolling and didn’t ‘wobble’, but didn’t mention anything about them being steerable, In the video I linked to, the autos seem to go around curves without much issue, although the yellow truck/lorry seemed a bit janky in the curve).
Not sure what scale you model in, but for HO. I my Oxford Diecast, CMW vehicles, Berinka, heck even Eko vehicles have reasonably free rolling wheels but are not steerable. The old school Tyco and Bachmann (and 1970s era release Athearn) did NOT come with rolling wheels, so if you have those leave them in the parking lots.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry, I forgot to mention I model in HO. I have watched numerous videos on Magnorail, and a few suggested that steerable tires may reduce the load on the motor. I’m getting my first starter kit later this week, so I’ll have to experiment. I have several cars that do not have rotating tires - they will just have to serve as obstacles for my cars to navigate around - some people just can’t read a no parking sign! My son and I want to see if we can make an animated skate park - we’ll see how that goes.

Sounds like an interesting project. Please share some photos of your work in progress!

This Dutch system is great. There are some layouts using it in Japan. However, it’s hard to find a place to buy it, and a friend ordered it from Austria. Where can you get one in the US?

I ordered mine from Reynauld’s - Magnorail Model Trains

Not the cheapest kits, but I think it add a lot of interest to the layout.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I love the cyclists! I planning on adding a bike path and park scene along a length of mainline.
