For about a week now Hulcher crews have been feverishly working in the BNSF Eola “west” yard and I wondered the whole time what that was all about…found out yesterday that ten sand cars on a “Railnet” train coming into the yard went on the ground and made a hell of a mess. Hulcher has been cutting up some of the cars and repairing the damaged track and switches since. They were supposed to be finished their work last night…we’ll see if they completed their work later today when I’m out there.
Wonder who did more track damage? Hulcher, the switch crew or the cars themselves?
Yesterday I heard they narrowed down the cause to possibly a broken wheel on one of the cars or a broken rail in the yard. Seems the switch involved was the newest one in the “west” yard at the time.
Being teh Railnet crew they might have thought they were at one of their Yards in Ottawa IL. Heck not a month or 2 goes by in my local paper without seeing that IL railnet put 10-15 cars on the ground in teh yard or going around the curve to the Interchange with the CSX or someplace like that. Lets just say their Crews are Experts in using the Rerail Frogs and wood to get a car or Loco back on the Rail.
