Do any photographs of the original Cascade Tunnel (not the 1929 tunnel) electric locomotives exist?
The April 1993 Railfan and Railroad has two pictures of them on page 56. They had to use two trolley poles, one for each wire.
The 4 of them are listed on this site under rosters.

There are many photos in existence of GN’s 3-phase motors. Many can be found
in Wood’s books: “Lines West” and “The Great Northern Railway”. I have both
and being a Washington State resident, myself, I have a strong interest in GN’s
operations and events in the Wellington-Cascade Tunnel Station region. Have
visited there many times. But, yes, there are photos available. Also try the
GNRHS. They are certain to have access to such photos.
In addition to the original 4 Alco’s, both the Z and Y motor’s were used in/on the old Cascade Tunnel from 1927 until the opening of the new Cascade.
I can only find two photos of the original locos in the “Lines West” book. Page 114 & 116 All the others are of the Z and Ys.
