Hey guys, Do any of ya’ll know the exact consist of the train Casey Jones was running in 1900 on the night of the crash? Thanks Mike
Trains magazine did a cover story on the wreck in the April 2000 issue (100th anniversary of the wreck). It might list it in there, otherwise maybe do a web search. There is / was a Casey Jones museum in Mississippi near the crash site that I believe has a website with a lot of info too, but I haven’t checked it out in several years.
The National Railway Bulletin (NRHS Publication) did a 100th anniversary story, too. The train was IC Ten Wheeler #382 and a 6 car train of mail, baggage, coaches, and sleepers. From the accident report, it had Mail Car #51 and Baggage Car #217. That leaves four cars for the “coaches and sleepers” part of the train.
