Casey Jones on TV - Who played lead role?

A question for you - who played the lead role in the TV series Casey Jones?
I think it was the same actor that played the role of the Captain in Gilligan’s Island…

What did everyone think of the Casey Jones tv shows?
Here Downunder we watched it as kids - throughly enjoyed it.

Alan Hale?! as Casey Jones…Don’t remember seeing that one. Anyone know where to look it up at? I vaguely remember seeing the show for a short time. But can’t remember any details or episodes.

Alan Hale, Jr. You can look it up but I know that’s right. Veteran of a lot of cowboy shows and later to play the Skipper, son of a character actor who shows up in a lot of Errol Flynn movies.

What was a typical episode like? Was it comedy? Drama? Were the trains in the show correct for 1900 america?

Thanks

George

When was it on TV? Was it a national tv show? I don’t think I have ever heard of it, or seen it to the best of my knowledge. Was it on about the time of Sky King? Earlier, or later in the time span?

Yep, it was Alan Hale Jr.

Found some info and access to videos at http://brokenwheelranch.com/caseyjones.htm 1958 TV series starring Alan Hale as Casey and Bobby Clark as Casey, Jr. [:)]

The show must have been regional, because if it had been on any of the three Philly stations, I know I would have watched every episode.
Sky King had an episode involving the sabotage of a train.
And (remember Philly?) Mr. Rivets once toured a diesel locomotive. He waved from the nose door of an a-unit.

I don’t think it was a network show, more of a syndicated sort. I think the plots were sort of westerny/cowboyish, but a bit more realistic than Petticoat Junction.

Never heard of this one, though I wonder were it was filmed at, what rail line?
