Center rail on 022 switch

The center rail of my switch is higher than preceding track causing engine to hit it and stop as if I were trying to change direction. I’ve tried different tracks and they are not the problem the switch is. I have been unsuccessful in trying to push track down and it doesn’t seem to be loose either. Are the switch tracks a little higher than regular tracks because the switch is on a plastic base? What can I do to make the heights equal?

File it down??? Why is it to high and what can I do about it?

I don’t know the answer but repost in the Classic Toy Trains forum so you can find an answer faster.

If you will edit your original post, you should be able to change the category to “Classic Toy Trains.”

Posting a picture of the problem area on the switch might help- as well as perhaps a picture of the engine that’s having issues with it.

Sorry, as a newbie here I’m mixed up as to the difference between Trains.com and classic trains forum. I’ve sent pix of my switch track problem to Trains.com but don’t see them. Is there a special address for classic trains forum?

When you begin a reply, there are two icons in the lower right corner. If you click on the left one, you’ll be prompted to select from your photo library, take a photo or video, or choose a file. (Those are the three options on my iPhone; you might see something a little different.) Choose the appropriate option and follow the prompts to add a picture to your response.

You should be able to unscrew the bottom plate of the switch. Unscrew the motor then remove the plate and you’ll see the rails are held down with folded tabs. The center rail has probably loosened or broken loose.
Post a picture and we can further evaluate the condition.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions
