Can someone please point me to a good looking HO scale chain-link fence? I need one for the hanging bridge project I’m working on.
Elec… I built some chainlink fence out of some tulla I got from WM a couple of weeks ago that came out quite nice. Here a a pic.
If this is something you would like to know about let me know and I will do my best to tell you how I did it. Mike
I bought some fine mesh window screen in black and will paint it. Using Bamboo squers (spelling?) for the fence post. Using this as a 6’ fence between the yard and passenger area. My wife suggested dress makers pins for the post since they are smaller and look better.
Mike what is TULLA? the fence looks better than what we are trying!!
mikesmowers, Yes please tell me about it. The fence looks really nice.
Mike, try just posting a link to the prior thread. I think that this is the one you are trying to post.
Your wife is correct…skewers are too thick. I’ve also used wire from large paper clips that is about the right size. You can also use hobby brass rod, but it gets more expensive and may be hard to find. Try the paper clips.
Hope this helps.

Alan B, That is exactly what I was trying to do, only yours worked a lot better. Mind sharing your secret for doing that? Mike
Easy !
Open the thread that you want to link to.
Click on the address in the browser and click copy.
Open your reply and put your cursor where you want the link and click on paste.
That is how it works for me.
What happened to the replies. They got really screwy; cut off on the right side and it looks likes photos didn’t load. Or is it my computer?
It’s the same mess here. After my reply ‘Yes please tell me about it’ everything looks like crazy.
Go to a fabric store/fabric department in a department store and ask for some swatches of different wedding veil material or tulle or crinoline. Some of these have very chain-link-fence like weaves and can be painted easily. Some don’t look correct at all. Anyway, you can often get nice sized swatches free-of-charge to experiment with. This is what I used in the scratch built chicken coop I made for my miners cottage.
Plastruct used to make packages of chain link fence including the piping. I don’t know if they still make it or not. I have a few extra packages that I don’t need for my layout. If you are interested, please email me.
Sorry about the screw-up on posting the thread I didn’t know what I was doing…(So Whats New) Anyway you got the info, it helped me out when I needed it. Good luck on the fence, post some pics when you can. Mike
Mike - You should be able to just delete the messed-up post, since it’s yours. I was really impressed with your fence when you posted it on Photo Fun a week or two back. Thanks for the detailed descriptions of how you did it.
I’ve got some black weed-proofing mesh down in the garage. I think I may give that a try.
Hey, EL…
I purchased a kit from Walthers that includes fabric, posts, and gates. I was pleased with the look and the price is reasonable. (Its even on sale now!) Here’s a link to the item description:

MisterB…I did delete the screwed-up thread, That should make this post easer to understand. Next time I want to do that I will try a different approach. Again, sorry for the screw-up, but thats all a part of learning. Mike
