Chatterbox Spring 2026

Good Morning
Happy First day of Spring. Helped a friend repair some storm damage at his house. Csx has announced plans for sites around the country. One of them is for a connections just west of town here in Defiance for new factories. Plenty of people have had basketball brackets broken yesterday. Going to get ready for work. It is the bosses birthday today as well. Going somewhere tonight for supper.

Good Evening
Up sent 1995 on 192 and csx sent it back on 191 today. Saw the posting for the Big Boy tour to come east. From what I read eastbound on the NKP and westbound on the NKP after Cleveland on the way back. Going to be interesting. Here is 191 just west of Defiance.

Yesterday was a top down day for the first outing of my TR-7 (after I bought and installed a new battery - the old one from 2016 was dead).

Boss was trying to figure out her sunroof on her car as well.

Don’t have to figure out the top on the Triumph - it has not been up for over 30 years. (garage kept, sunny day use)

Morning
Well the Ohio river team didn’t start out well yesterday. We had golf ball sized hail here at home. Further east they had Lemon and Lime sized hail. House and vehicles are ok. Going to check on brother in Ottawa after work.

Good Morning
Happy Easter. Yesterday we went over to Leipsic to watch L070 work on NS. They had work for Poet(ethanol) and Protec(steel coating) that would have them crossing the diamond. We were also watching the weather coming as well. On the way home we got reports of trains stopped for trees down and storm damage in Downtown Defiance. A friend of ours was called to take M 368 from Atlantic St. To NWO (North Baltimore). I checked the old neighborhood. Power lines and trees down everywhere. Other friends are ok just more clean up from Mother Nature. The pictures are from Leipsic and an alley between Perry and Clinton streets in Defiance. Back in the day the railroad had a spur go down that alley as well.

Have a happy Easter!

Just got back from a 2 day visit with my younger son. We did a road trip from Lafayette IN to several spots in northern Ohio, spending the night in Brook park, then doing a walk over the “Guardians” bridge, with clear view of the RTA line to what’s left of CUT. Next was walking through the West Side Market, followed by a trip to Lakewood via Edgewater to see the house where my mom grew up. Next was a trip to Plymouth with a short stop in Norwalk to take a picture of the NOTC/GTE/VZ/Frontier central office that has a bit of family history. The stop in Plymouth was to visit my Grandparents graves, along with graves of one set of my great grandparents and a monument to my great-great-grandparents (my maternal grandfather’s family). My grandfather’s gave had a medallion for his service in WW1 and my great-grandfather’s grave had a medallion for his service for the GAR in the Civil War. FWIW, my maternal grandmother had deep Ohio roots as well. My son was curious to know where my mother grew up, partly since he never met her.

The ex-B&O line between Willard and Mansfield runs on the western boundary of the Plymouth cemetery.

I feel sad to say that I was the first of my grandparents descendants to visit their graves in decades.

morning
The city came and took care of the debris in our former neighbors yard downtown this week. Going to Deshler to clean up the park and work in the museum as well. Also going to visit brother in Ottawa for his birthday next Wed. He turns the big 70. Hoping the Big Boy keeps its schedule so we can take him to see it when it comes east. Here is a picture of us in Wauseon. Need to get stuff ready to go.

Afternoon
Ran errands this morning. Watched Csx L 376 come into town. They had some cars used for carrying rail going for scrap. The oldest date I found was 1947. Wish brother Carl was still around to help find out what part of csx they were built for in the past. Going to be summerlike this week with rain.
