Afternoon
Tomorrow is the first day of Summer. Mother Nature is going to provide the heat. The Ohio Rail Experience is running it’s DT&I north special on Sunday. We will go look at it before we head into Mudchickens old turf. Oldest brother is coming for a visit from Virginia. Here is a picture from Fostoria. It’s the Pan AM engine. Csx is using it for the local.

Things are fairly uneventful here. But I’m trying to schedule my next IRM visit as usual. Possibly either for diesel days or on Labor Day weekend. Just being around CNW 7009 brings me so much joy.
Spring ended in the DMV with a series of powerful T’storms that blew trees down on nearly all commuter rail routes in the area. Summer is slated to kick off with temperatures approaching triple digits for the next week.
Train of the day for Csx.X 369 passes the empty Defiance yard.(caboose is still there)

Good morning
Heat advisory for our state the next few days. Was able to go up to Bryan Ohio and meet some fellow railfans. We had some people take Amtrak to Chicago to watch the cubs play. It was also nice to see Classic Trains editor Brian Schmidt as well. Today going to go see the Ohio rail experience train. Then we are going to my sisters house and meet our newest great niece.

Back in 2023 diesel days. IRM had almost my entire childhood lined up in a convenient photo op. There were days where I badly wanted to see even one of these locomotives preserved. The fact that I got 3 in the same location is beyond amazing.
Still warm here in Nw Ohio. Here are some pictures of the Ohio Rail experience from yesterday. They had to wait at Hamler for csx to line them through. We did see some csx and ns running as well but had to nowhere safe to stop. Need to run errands.

Triple digits in the forecast for the Mid-Atlantic area today.
I also get news feeds from the Akron/Cleveland area - this past weekend was ripe with water rescue/recovery efforts on the Cuyahoga River at Kent and Cuyahoga Falls.
It’s been so warm around here that my Labrador that loves to go to the river for a swim went screw you I’m staying here in the air conditioning.
One of my weather stations read the temperature as 106 degrees F and the Heat Index was shown as 126. Humidity was showing about 70%.
Talk about a bad anniversary night for me. 29 years ago I was involved in the worst accident possible as an OTR driver. I had a fatal accident in Illinois just east of Peoria on rt 116.
My son at Johns Hopkins said that the weather was DISGUSTING and I can’t argue with that. The Inner Harbor weather station reported a LOW of 85F for last night.
We’re dealing with June Gloom here, night and morning clouds which may clear by noon. On the coast, the highs are about 70 and the lows about 60, with temperature larger inland.

Mother nature has backed off the heat for us for now. Went to Bryan and then over to Deshler. Checked on my brother in Ottawa as well. He enjoyed the extra visits this week. Ns sent a variety of trains. They also sent an eastbound of hide wide loads. It had steel and John Deere tractors.Over in Deshler it was hurry up and wait. They had a local stuck in the west siding at south Deshler. Today going to catch up on chores.Going to be a short workweek this week.
