Here in Chicago, IL just off 95th street there is NS Calumet yard. In the same area they have many industrys, one that I have see what’s looks to be some type of chemical plant with tanks cars set out on it’s track? It has many storage tanks around it painted black and white.
Does someone on here know what industry it is and what they do?
Hey there, you’re probably going to have to be a little more specific. South of NS Calumet yard? I assume it’s something on the Calumet River? Visible from what road? Aerial photos show a lot of storage tanks in the area. Could be Kinder Morgan, Chemtrade Logistics, Cargill, Calumet Energy, maybe Asphalt Operating Services.
I know if you take I-94 going west just to the right you can see it as you drive by, I’m wonder if it is a Asphait Operating Service? The map shows it at 99th and Avalon Ave, but gives no name of it?
Click on the link I had in my last post. It takes you to the same place. An industry search shows it as Kappa Products, what I mentioned in my last reply. Animal and fish oils, so, it could include cooking oils.
Lyondell industry it is a chemical firm. I am doing the area myself the info online is not a exact science sometimes so i went with what info was available. I just hope you want a polluted and destroyed industrial area i have a pro reality layout no fluff and fantasy on mine. they had a record of polluting just like velsicol and hooker corporation did all over the usa. the clark refinery was beyond them but did the same amount of destruction to the area it was in. I would also suggest nearby landfills liquid or solid. do some research c-56 mercury pcb and waste oils have there own look so it is needed. I have done a lot of research on these subjects for over 20 years. the epa did not really come around until around 71.
I do not keep up with all of my posts forever so here is a late post if you follow yours. lyondell manufactures things from oil by products and the paint factory was dutch boy. I have for research purposes only found a old landfill picture at around 122 to 129th off the 294 around 1969 to 1974 that looks to be from dutch boys old products just south of hickory hills. I passed this a long time ago when sitting and not cleaned up it looked like mercury glistening at night.
