Christmas layouts - post your plans, progress and pics!

Well, my Christmas layout will be the same as last year, so I’ll try to take some pictures once I get it set up around the tree. That might happen this weekend. I don’t think I’ll be adding anything to it this year, as I don’t have the time or the funds. But 3 trains, 1 handcar and 1 elevated trolley is still pretty nice.

Outside around the tree

Buckeye, I like how you did that. Is there two tracks?

Yes, there are two tracks but they are just concentric circles. The photograph is my test run of the outside track tonight. The Bachman performed flawless. When we have the big neighborhood kids party at our house, two trains will be running beneath this tree on our back deck. The transformers are stored in rubbermaid tubs and stay very dry and sometimes very warm.

I swear that a simple place to build a layout is on your deck or patio. Tomorrow the snow will fly and I hope to plow snow with the engines. The LGBs handle the bad weather the best.

BTW, how far do you live from Bethlehem, PA because they have a terrific indoor G Scale display every year at Christmas that benefits Toys for Tots.

I live about 2 hours from there. Funny thing is that my dad’s father lived there for a while, now he lives only 5 minutes from my house. I was going to go to the one in Allentown, but never got the chance to. I gotta go to the train show this weekend because I promised to help w/ setup tomorrow, and running them on Sat, and Sun, because we will be short handed. BTW, how much did you get the Christmas set for? Also in Sunday photo fun I saw a lot LGB boxes, how much do you really have?

Some pictures of my 2005 Christmas layout

Buckeye,

I understand you’re looking to do an outdoor toy train layout. Let me know how it goes.

I’ve already posted plans for my outdoor layout in some other posts so don’t wi***o be too redundant here. Won’t have much problems trying to make snow or realistic scenery or weathering or even dust for that matter.

Dave, I not sure who told you that I was going to do an outdoor toy train layout. The layout I have is G Scale and it is up and running. All of my trains running outdoors are G. They are made to run in the rain and snow, but they don’t do too well when the track is coated with ice.

Christmas Layout for outside is now done. [8D] Mother Nature helped me with the snow.

Bump!

Made it little more progress this week. Added a row of paper buildings. Those buggers are tricky! Anyway… after the Christmas rush, should have time to add some additional details. Greg[img][http://images.snapfish.com/3458448%3B23232fp337>vq%3D326%3B>2%3B%3B>5<3>WSNRCG%3D32333%3A8753954vq0mrj/img]

Opps. I’ll try again!

Every tree should have an operating train layout!

Here is a pic of my tree, the boys and our little layout.

Our annual LGBs 'round the tree:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Santa’s train getting ready to roll at the museum on friday.

The Nutcrackers should clear the signal bridges but not by much, they don’t clear the tunnels on our Christmas layout. I’ll have to pull them off tomorrow nite. [:(]

Mixture of Polar Express and Christmas add-on pack.

Is it only me having troubles staying awake after nightshift or is this tree hanging down from the ceiling??
(As far as I can see the photo is not upside down, if you notice the socks on the chimney and the cupboards…)

Probably an advert for magnetraction[:D][:D]

My O-Scale train isn’t under the tree(LGB is under the tree), but I did set it up this Holiday Season:
