CLOSED////////The Coffee Pot is still on and over 3 years. Here we gather as friends with trains.

GOOOOOOD NIGHT. [(-D][(-D]

Good morning from a cold and blustery New England!

The wind chill out there is -30! When is spring going to spring?

No trains last night, but we all went to the pet store and bought more “coal”. The boys really enjoy filling the hopper cars. The Williams F3s we have pull those cars like they aren’t even there. I swear, I’ll bet if I put my Lumina in neutral, those Williams would be able to pull it!

Wifeypoo was home last night and we had dinner at her folk’s house. Had a good time. She had a nice surprise waiting for me when we got home.

Jim

HI GIZ,

12 and cold windy and brrrrr!!! To get to 23, then 2-5 inches tomorrow? Stay tuned?

RTTRAINCOLLECTOR, BILL can’t get down to Lancaster on Friday or Saturday got to go to sister-in-laws. We’ll have to meet sometime later.

All have a good one.

Good morning,

Temp of 15 and wind chill of “0” and windy.

Off to the museum in a few minutes, just stopped in to say hello.

Take care,

glad that worked out.

You’re a good fellow. That’s going to be a nice treat for the both of you.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

It is a cold, sunny 14 degrees. Going up to a cold 24 today. Looks like we will have sun most of the day. That is good.

Today, I have to run some errands, locally. Then, I will have some time for the train room. Need to do a little work on mounting down the Atlas bridge and track. A little work every day adds up. GG1 looks good running the upper loop with pantographs up. Plenty of clearance.

Dining Car is here early. No stops at " points west " yet. Breakfast.

Y’all have a great Tuesday.

Chuck

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cold with temps in the 30s in SE Indiana. I played indoor soccer last night and I am not too sore this morning. I finished up the bran muffins this morning so the dining car is kind of bare heading to “Points East”. Buckeye, you must have mixed emotions this morning as the Purdue women beat OSU for the Big Ten title in basketball last night. Dr. John, glad to hear everybody in your family is ok. My son gets his license possibly this Friday, and then I will really have to worry every time he goes out. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Went to bed early last night… was up till 1:30am on Sunday because computer was having issues. Feel much better today.

Was talking with the wife last night… seems while I was away Friday she watched one of her shows on HGTV… show was about building secret doors, trap doors, passage ways, and secret rooms, so she has it in her mind that we need a secret door somewhere in the new house… direct quoted conversation:

Wife - I want you to build a secret door on the wine cellar in the new house!

Me - What on Earth for?

Wife - Because it would be cool.

Me - I have no idea how to build something like that.

Wife - You are smart, figure it out. You have until June to come up with something.

Me - WHAT? You are serious? You have to hide the thing so no one knows it is there!

Wife - They are easy to build.

Me - Oh really?

Wife - Yes I saw it on TV

Me - …

[sigh]

Brent,

I saw a cool one on tv once. These two guys lived together in this big house. Twice each week, they would need to slip away to do some work. They used a cool hidden door to do so. It looked like a bookcase, but when a switch was flipped in a bust of Shakespear, the bookcase door would open. Behind the bookcase were 2 fire poles that they used to slide down to a basement under the house.

I wish I could remember what show that was . . .

Jim

Didn’t they have a butler or something that was always there, and oh yea, a black car!

Yeah, but why did they dress up in costumes to go out all the time - didn’t they want their friends to recognize them?

Good morning from a cold Chicago where Kevin has sent more of his Alaskan air. Fully 15 degrees below ‘normal’. Successfully added another lock-on to the main line on the far side of the layout - made a big impact with the voltage drops as you might imagine. I jamed both the wires for each terminal into one of those spade connectors I think they’re called and tried to crimp them together. 'Course I have to do something about the wire stretching across everything.

Dr. John, that layout for your dad sounds like a great idea.

Glad Jim A enjoyed his surprise.

For all you folks stuck in the cold weather…I’m sorry to tell you…Today will be another beautiful day in the Mile High City. Temps will reach near 60. This is good…the snow is melting and even some of the tulips are starting to poke their heads out of the ground.

Not much else to report right now. I ordered a couple of books yesterday on benchwork and one on scenery. Looking forward to their arrival.

I hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Jerry

Standard in all Southern homes. That is in case Yankees come to town. You go down, slip out the back and surround them. [}:)]

Morning all. Sunny and cool but warming tomorrow and on thru the week. Want to do some garden work before I have to leave Thursday. Got Dermatologist apt this afternoon. Yes, back to see her again. Been the longest we have been without me visiting since the fall. [;)]

Got to get outside and on tractor. Later.

Hello All! Dr.John- Glad your son survived his accident-Make sure he goes to the Doctor though so they can look him over. Sometimes folks get an internal injury or bleeding & may not know it until its too late. Hope your father has fun with the layout you’re planning to build for him. Sounds very nice. Kevin- Close the freezer door. It’s so cold here that Folks have to use Ice Picks to free their Dogs from Fire Hydrants[;)][8D][:o)][:o)][:o)] Jim A- I bet your surprise was a full size Batmobile from your wife?[;)][;)] A Cutlass would be the next best thing.[:)] Take Care all.

Good afternoon! Too cold for a walk outside today! It isn’t expected to warm up significantly until the weekend. I just had a huge lunch. Getting sleepier by the minu

Benny Hill seamed to be a bigger hit outside the UK which was sad really. Ever seen the original film “The Italian Job” (not the horrific re-make from a few years back, If they had done a full remake of the opening sequence with a new Lambo I might have said it was ok[;)]) Michael Caine and Benny Hill are in it. Classic car fans will love the opening sequence. Lamborghini Mura, twisty road in the Italian alps, Matt Monro on the stereo with the thunder of the V12 in the background…heaven[8D]

Nick

P.S. Billy Piper (Rose) was on BBC TopGear Sunday night…See thru tops are just not fair[;)]

Good Afternoon everyone,

I just saw the strangest thing. I was coming home from getting some blood work done, and as my mom and I passed under the NS bridge, I looked up and saw a Dodge Dakota on the rails. Not like the car that can be put on rails, I mean one side inside the rails and the other on the outside. The truck has no markings on it, and is just plain white.

Colin, I have seen something like that before. Then a Conrail fast freight ended the trucks journey.

Watched a great show this morning on RFD. Trains and Locomotives was on the Santa Fe’s Super Chief. It was a great show hosted by Michael Gross. They had lots of train footage, but also plenty of interviews by both the former passengers as well as crew and administration. Sure was the days of the “Romance of the Rails”.

Did some wiring last night. Have one section of Fastrack that for some reason just doesn’t like the solder. I wire brushed it and will try again. Same solder has worked everywhere else on the layout.

John, got that NYC Mack Flatbed with load from Stewart’s Hobbies, it is a nice looking truck. I even got it while the wife was away, so she didn’t see the $70 price tag.[:-^]

The answer to your prayers

Dennis,

I was very suprised to see the SUV there. One minute I thought I saw it driving on a road, the next minute I see it driving on the RR tracks. I have been to the area where the SUV was, and there is no access road near the tracks there.
