It’s refreshing to see the board hold the CEO to a higher standard.
His salary is out of the average working persons reality so no sympathy from me.
Of course, that’s Canadian dollars. How much is that in real money?
Of course the real story is the explosion of corporate wages over the last several decades as the mantra “greed is good” has taken hold. The RR wannabes are just trying to keep up with their brethren since more is good and too much more is even better. BTW as all have noticed, competence does not factor in.
What a shame! Do you think he’ll be able to make ends meet on $9.3M? It is even worse than that – it is only $7.5M in USD.
Trains should print the salaries of the other railroad CEOs. This guy is probably getting chump change compared to the ones in the US.
Bless his poor poor heart. I bet the satellite dish fell in the pool and the Mercedes had a flat on the way to the bank.
Maybe he should put part of his pension. In getting 4-6-4 2816 running. Just saying. Maybe… Probably not .
Claude Mongeau Is with CN Rail. 2816 is a Canadian Pacific engine. Wish CN would get some steam engine running.
Oh crap!!! Thanks.
Ho hum…
Seriously, some folks just don’t grasp the responsibility of heading up a major railroad. His compensation is very much in line with other major carriers here in North America. Full disclosure here. I retired from the CN in 2013.
Mr. Mongeau was ( and as far as I know) a very committed railroader who has a real sense for the Business end of the Operation. His commitment to service for the customers of the CN is extremely strong.
Likewise, his ability to make pragmatic decisions about critical issues facing CN, In spite of the slings and arrows some may wish to throw, He will definitely steer the company to improve on these kinds of issues.
Likewise, I think some of these comments that are based on Class Envy, are silly. Sorry guys, I have a deep respect for Mr. Mongeau and I will continue to wish him well as these challenges are met.
Am I supposed to feel sorry for him? I think not.
