So a partially derailed car can be dragged for five miles without it being noticed? Sounds like some luck was involved that there wasn’t more damage.
First, modern trains have sencors on There trucks that should detect this. Unless the train took five miles to stop, the FRA should improve their safety standards. I wish trains magazine could write more about these topics.
