CN freight train derails east of Toronto

PICKERING, Ont. — A CN freight train carrying containers derailed about 35 kilometres east of Toronto on Thursday, sending 32 cars off the tracks and disrupting commuter rail services in the area.

Two cars contained hazardous materials — one with batteries, the other with hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid — but there were no leaks, said CN spokesman Mark Hallman.
