There are already two railroads in the area that could build a branch line or two and snag the traffic with far less capital investment, and they know how to keep a railroad rolling in that climate. Building a new line, completely disconnected from the rest of the CN network, is “railway mania” and unlikely to yeild a decent return for shareholders or investors.
Meanwhile, funny how this could be built through the wilderness in a couple of years and $5bln, but HSR would take 20 years and $20bln, eh?
