So the subsidy to CN is less expensive than having Via Canada take it over?

…WHY DO THIS WHEN CARS,BUSES,TRUCKS & AIRPLANES DO A MUCH BETTER JOB AT POLLUTING…

As senate minority leader Everett Dirksen once said, “When I feel the heat, I see the light”.

Next year is an election year, start calling your MP’s now

I rode this train back in January. About 15 riders northbound, including some cabin owners and a trapper. The next day, one southbound rider (me) and some MOW supplies. Great ride and enjoyed speaking with the friendly, hardworking conductor. There was very deep snow and he had to dig out several switches so we could duck some freights. Having an F40 pulling just a coach and baggage car (in run 8 for HEP, I think) is not exactly fuel efficient or eco-friendly. Seems like acquiring DMUs or rebuilt RDCs would make sense to reduce costs.

If conservatives advocate the private sector running such operations to provide transportation to remote places, I can personally say that there has been absolutely NO effort on the private sector to build roads that way. The railroads ought to be comended for keeping the trains running. However, if government spending needs to be cut, they really need to look at cutting the high-dollar projects like building new highways that are 100% financed by government.
