The UPRR/CNW heritage unit with a unbandaided CNW trailer just past the Rochelle webcam going east
Thanks for posting that link to the video shot around Daggett.
That place is one of the hottest spots for watching trains in the West. But obviously they don’t linger there. UP slows for the curve and junction–that’s about it!
Thanks yes it is one of the best spots I have been to to watch trains. It has everything speed, volume & interlocking. Once between UPRR & BNSF I saw like almost 50 trains in 6 hours & finally said that is enough for 1 day!
rochelle is quite the fanning hotspot. though it has few manifests. most of it is intermodals and UP SD70Ms. i can deal. i’d love to fan there one day. man i’d love to see 1995 again.
you said there’s an unpatched CNW trailing it? was it, by any chance, a trash 9? i believe 1995 is with those 2 a lot. kinda makes me not want to go see it
Check the past pix on the webcam & U should find it
It’s unpatched CNW…who cares IMHO! I’d go!
Yes I saw one at Gibbon in 05 & my heart pounded. I hope when I visit Rochelle this year that I have the gods of the CNW behind me & see it again
i saw them both in Altoona twice. it wasnt that spectacular… i didnt get the same great feeling i got when i was 4. i dunno
I’ve seen 1995 and the unpatched dash 9’s in Butler yard quite often. There is also a whole bunch of CNW SD40-2 repaints - the bells on the nose are a dead give away. In addition to that, they seem to have taken the habit of putting a very dirty Southern Pacific dash 9 on the end of the coal trains going to Port Washington. It sure makes for some interesting combinations. Ever since CP Rail took those new ES44DC’s (is that right?) that’s the only thing you see on that line. It is nice to have some variety.
In less than a year, I’ve seen CNW 8701, 8646 and UP patched SD40-2’s 2990 and 3028
I’d love to see those 3 units but I never have time when they’re together or near enough.
