Coco Crisp still an Indian?

Man, it’s hard to figure this out - in the air? counting bounces? There’s a lot of myth to cull out. I think the Mick’s hit mentioned above was registered from where a child picked up the ball - more like 510-512 ft - still unbelieveable - at Griffith stadium in 1953 - his hit in Detroit in 1960 counted all the bounces in getting to 600 ft. I think you could do this better by decade - Cecil Fielder certainly hit the longest, most recent blasts in the 90s at Detroit

Hold on here…i see all this talk about Cleveland and Chicago, but what about the Phillies. I think the Phillies are one by one bringing the Indians past to play for them. O man, can’t wait to see old kenny lofton and Charlie Manuel be the saviors of the Phillies. Eddie Wade seems to think they will, so it must be so. to get a train involved…How ‘bout we send good ol’ Ed Wade to one of your towns on Amtrak, any takers?

Doug,
I just looked it up at http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=45659 Of course they don’t mention bounces[;)]

They’re saying the record is 634ft! Unbelivable is right. They should measure were the ball first hits! I guess The Mick’s lucky there were no buildings in the way.

I had a baseball card that had The MICKs homer on it and it showed the flight of the ball. Had an arrow that showed whereit went. Wish I still had that card probably worth a nice train today?

JOCLI,
Now that the Phils got rid of that tyrant BOWA it will be interesting to see if Charlie can make winners out of them. But remember win or loose they win still BOO in PHILLY. Gee they even BOOED SANTA CLAUSE back in '69 at an EAGLES game.

yo cuz, that whole booing of santa clause thing is blown way out of proportion. it was before i was born, but there has been a story on it. ok, if u will believe me, this is what actually happened. the regular santa didn’t show up, so they pulled a guy dressed like santa outta the stands, and as i heard it was all in fun. the guy playing santa was even egging it on and had no ill feelings.
and we do boo, and i feel that that’s better than just letting a team slack off or suck w/o letting them hear about it. if the indians go out day after day and play like dogs, i would hope u boo them instead of putting on a smile and saying it’s all right boys, there’s another game tomorrow.
I don’t feel Bowa was a tyrant, i feel the players were just babies and couldn’t deal with a guy who expected great things and voiced his displeasure when they failed. i’m just afraid with manuel the players are gonna get too complacent as they were under francona. and wow this is long…if u care for me to explain anymore, just let me know.

In light of recent events, I thought I would bring back this oldle. Some people look like geniuses. For the rest of us, there’s always next year.[swg]

Ah, memories… Isn’t it fun to be so positive about every team in February? I thought the Sox might win their division and was thrilled about the possibility of that - but frankly never dreamed they’d make it this far like this…[:D]

Pat, according to the link you provided, I found this:[#offtopic]

Most Powerful Steam Locomotive

The world’s most powerful steam locomotive was the American No.700, tank engine built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1916. It had a tractive force of 75,433 kg. (166,300 lb.), working compound, and 90,519 kg. (199,560 lb.), working simple.

Oldest Steam Locomotive Still In Use

The Fairy Queen was built in 1855 by Kitson, Thompson & Hewitson, of England. Used until 1909, it was restored in 1966, and between October 1997 and February 1998, it made several trips along the 89-km line between New Delhi and Alwar, India.

From a PA postcard circa 1959:

“World Famous” Horseshoe Curve

I have seen a very nice model layout on the net with this curve worked into pretty realistically.

HAPPY STEAMIING!!
